Hide the Divi Theme Header when Scrolling Down

A prominent feature of the Divi Theme is the responsive header which starts off large, then shrinks to a smaller version as you scroll down. This smaller header hovers above the content of the page.

Disabling the Fixed Divi Header

If you’d rather not have the header shown when you scroll down, the best option is to disable the fixed header in the Divi configuration options. To do so:

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard
  2. Go to the ePanel at "Divi > Theme Options" (or "Appearance > Divi Theme Options" in Divi prior to version 2.4)
  3. Under "General Settings" you'll find a box titled "Fixed Navigation Bar".
  4. Set this to Disabled, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and press save.

Now the Divi header will no longer hover over the content when you scroll down.

Disabling the Fixed Divi Header via CSS

If for any reason you need to a way to hide the header via CSS, you can do so by adding some CSS to your Divi Theme as follows:

.et-fixed-header { display:none; }

With this, when you scroll down the header will disappear instead of shrinking.

(Note that the transition isn’t as smooth as I’d like, so when I get a chance I’ll try and improve this).

    • Hi Md, you can control some of the styles / colors of the scrolled (or "fixed") menu bar using the settings at:

Divi > Theme Customizer > Header & Navigation > Fixed Navigation Settings

Hopefully that has what you need, but if not, perhaps you can let me know what parts of the menu bar you'd like to be able to re-style? Thanks!

  2. Hi! I still don't know how to remove the top header (contains just my e-mail and a phone number) from the single landing page. Is there any hint on that?

    • Hi Borys, I've just put up a post explaining how to do it:

See the last paragraph of the CSS section for details on applying it to a single landing page.

I hope it helps, but let me know if you have any questions, etc. Thanks!

  3. This is exactly what I'm looking to do however these directions do not match what I have in my dashboard. under appearance there is no Divi Theme options. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Do you have screen shots or a video? that would be most helpful.

    • Hi Sharice, the location of the Divi ePanel was moved from "Appearance > Divi Theme Options" to "Divi > Theme Options" in Divi 2.4. I've updated the post to reflect this. I hope that helps.
