How to Add Comments to a Divi Page

The Divi Theme supports comments on posts by default. But what if you want to add comments to a page instead?

Luckily for us, the guys at Elegant Themes have provided an easy way to do this within the Divi Builder – by using the Comments module.

The comments module can be found in the modules for a standard section, as shown:

Simply select it, choose the settings you want and hit save. Now you can position your Divi comments module wherever you wish within the page, for example:

  2. Thanks for everything, it was very helpful for projects that I had pending and did not come out, and thanks to the information on the page and some comments I was able to solve it.

  3. I have done all of these steps but when you try to add a comment to test it, so click submit comment, it says this action is not available. I have tried changing the settings as well but that still doesn't work. What can I do?

    • Hi Toni, I've just sent you an email. I'm not quite sure at this stage what would be causing the error. But if you're able to send me a screenshot in reply to the email, that should hopefully help me track it down. Thanks!

      • It looks like the "Sorry, comments are not allowed for this item." error message you're getting is displayed by WordPress when a comment is submitted to a draft post. So I'd suggest checking that your post isn't in draft mode. If you either publish it, or set it to private then you should be able to submit comments after that. I hope that helps!

    • Hi, links in the comments (in either the standard post comments or the comments module) should be marked as "nofollow" by default. You should be able to see this if you right click on a link in your browser and click "Inspect" (in Chrome – other browsers have something similar). This should bring up a box with the HTML of the link, and you should see the rel="nofollow" in the link. If this isn't the case, perhaps you can send me the link to a page with a comment / link in it so that I can take a look for you. Thanks!

  7. I'm having an issue with the comment module. I have added the comment module to a page but the comment text area is not displaying. Anybody else run into this issue?

    • Hey Dylan, it looks to me like comments are currently closed on the page you've linked to. Try enabling the comments on the page by going to the page edit screen, clicking "Screen Options" (top right, below your user name) and ensuring "Discussion" is checked. Then scroll down the page to the "Discussion" box and check the "Allow Comments" box. That should hopefully fix the issue on that page. If you want to solve it site-wide, from the WP Dashboard go to "Settings > Discussion" and ensure that "Allow people to post comments on new articles" is enabled. Also check that you have the correct setting for the "Automatically close comments on articles older than XXX days" option – otherwise it might be closing the comments on you. Let me know if that doesn't help. Thanks!
