Randomize the Divi Slider Module Slide Order

Written by Dan Mossop

The Divi Theme includes a slider module which lets you display a series of slides in a carousel. By default, the slides are displayed in the order they are added to the module. Here's how to randomize the order of the slides, so that they are displayed in a different order each time the page is loaded.

Randomize Slide Order using Divi Booster

Divi Booster adds an option to the standard Divi slider module, allowing you to randomize the slide order.

With Divi Booster enabled, you should see the added "Randomize Slides" option at:

Slider Settings > Content > Elements > Randomize Slides

Enable the option and save the settings / page.

Your slider should now show the slides in a different order each time the page is reloaded.

This option is available in Divi Booster v4.2.0 upwards.

As of Divi Booster v4.4.3, this option also works with the Divi Fullwidth Slider module.

Randomize Slide Order using jQuery

To randomize the slider module slide order, add the following jQuery code to your site:

<script>
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
    $('.et_pb_slider.slider-random').each(function() {
        var slides = $(this).find('.et_pb_slides');
        slides.children().sort(function() {return Math.random()-0.5;}).detach().appendTo(slides);
    });
});
</script>

You can add this code to your site by pasting it into the "Divi > Theme Options > integration > Add Code to Head of your Blog" box.

Then for any slider you want to have a random slide order on, simply give it a CSS class of "slider-random" in "Slider Settings > Advanced > CSS ID & Classes > CSS Class", like so:

 Your slider should now be randomly ordered.

This jQuery code will work on both the standard Divi Slider module and the Fullwidth Divi Slider module.

Divi Booster upgrades Divi with hundreds of new features to help you build awesome sites with ease. One standout feature is the ability to randomize slide order in the Divi Slider Module, adding an extra layer of dynamic content to your pages.
