Set Transition Speed in Divi Show / Hide Button

Written by Dan Mossop

Divi Show / Hide Button can be used to show and/or hide elements in a page built using Divi Builder. By default the transitions take 400 milliseconds to complete. You can adjust this transition time as follows.

Setting the Transition Duration

You can adjust the show / hide transition duration applied by the Show / Hide Button using the option at:

Show / Hide Button Settings > Design > Transitions > Transition Duration

The option is available in Divi Show / Hide Button v1.2.1 onwards.

Note that as of v1.2.1, the Show / Hide button also supports built-in animations configured within the module settings of the target elements. In that case, you may wish to disable the show / hide button's transitions entirely, which can be achieved by setting the Transition Duration field to '0ms'. Note that you can configure animations on the target elements by going to:

{Section, Row, Module} Settings > Design > Animation.

  1. I am trying to remove the animation entirely and the method described above (set transition duration to 0ms on the show/hide button) does not work. Also, the Transitions panel is now under the Advanced tab in Divi settings for each element. I am using the following versions of the relevant software:

    Show / Hide Button 1.6.0
    Divi 4.25.0
    WordPress 6.5

Please provide direction on how to remove animations or a patch for the plugin that allows the method above to work as expected. Thanks!

    • Hey Jon, I have to apologize for the confusion. In the current version there are actually two "Transitions" panel – one under the "Design" tab (which is added by the Show / Hide Button) and one under the "Advanced" tab (which is added by Divi).

The "Transitions" panel on the Advanced tab is automatically added by Divi and controls the speed of the button hover animation. I'm not quite sure if Divi added this panel after I added the one on the Design tab, or if I just wasn't thinking straight when I named mine, but somehow they've ended up with the same name and that's obviously highly confusing.

For now, the option you want is at:

Show / Hide Button Module > DESIGN > Transitions > Transition Duration

I've just tested and it is still working correctly.

I'm renaming the panel / setting in the next update (v1.6.1), so that it will become:

Show / Hide Button Settings > Design > Show/Hide Effects > Effect Duration

Any setting you apply now will keep working – only the names are being changed.

I hope that clears things up!

      • Thanks Dan! Changing the duration on the *correct* Transitions panel worked exactly as expected.

        • Great! Thanks for letting me know, Jon. Apologies again for the confusing wording and I'll get that update out as soon as I can. Cheers!
