Divi Booster Plugin FAQs

Can I use it on more than one site? What about my clients' sites?

Yes! Divi Booster is licensed for use on unlimited sites. This means you can install it on any or all of your own sites, and on any or all of your client's sites. But please don't share your copy of Divi Booster with others, or make it available online.

Is there an Affiliate Program?

How do I Install Divi Booster?

To install Divi Booster, do the following:

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard go to "Plugins > Add New"
  2. Select "Upload Plugin"
  3. Click "Choose File" and locate the Divi Booster plugin .zip file on your computer
  4. Click "Install Now"
  5. Click "Activate Plugin"

That's it, the Divi Booster plugin should now be installed on your blog.

Now to setup the plugin:

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard go to "Appearance > Divi Booster"
  2. Enter the license key from your purchase confirmation email and click "Activate License" (if it doesn't work the first time, click activate a second time). A green tick will appear once the license is activated.
  3. On the same page, click the section headings to expand and select the configuration options you want to apply to Divi.
  4. Click "Save Changes"

There's nothing else to do. If you visit your site you should see the changes to your Divi Theme.

How do CSS Hero and Divi Booster Compare?

The short answer is that CSS Hero and Divi Booster do different things. They can be used together and doing so will give you the most control over how Divi looks and behaves.

Here's the slightly longer answer. CSS Hero is a general-purpose tool for changing the look of a site via CSS. It makes it easy to do basic CSS tweaks to your site such as changing text color and alignment, font sizes, background colors. It excels at this and if that is all you need to do, it may be just the tool for you.

Divi Booster, on the other hand, has grown out of my work helping people solve their trickiest Divi customization problems. Many of these problems have come from smart people who know some CSS and are often already using CSS Hero. As such the problems I've been solving are typically ones which require a deeper knowledge of and control over Divi than CSS Hero (or anything else) can offer. Most of the fixes use a combination of CSS, JavaScript and PHP to achieve the desired effect. Divi Booster wraps these complex fixes into one easy-to-use plugin, so anyone can apply these fixes to their site regardless of their coding abilities (or lack of).

Divi Booster and CSS Hero work well together. Using both plugins will give you the most complete set of configuration options for Divi, letting you both take control of the basic look of your site and take it to the next level.

Where does Divi Booster put its CSS code? Does it get applied to the parent theme file or child theme? How do I modify the CSS for a Divi Booster feature?

Divi Booster doesn't modify the parent or child theme. Instead it creates and includes a separate CSS file (as well as a JavaScript file). It stores this in its own cache directory. It overwrites it whenever you save new settings, so don't add CSS to this file as it'll just get erased by the next save. The good thing about CSS is that it doesn't really matter where you put it, so you can add CSS in your own child theme (or wherever) and have it modify the Divi Booster CSS. If you'd like to see the CSS that Divi Booster is generating, go to the Divi Booster settings page and look under "Developer Tools > Generated CSS". There you can view the Divi Booster CSS file. You may want to temporarily use the "Disable minification" option to make the file easier to read.

Why do I get a blank screen when I click on wp_footer.txt or htaccess.txt in the Developer Tools section?

Some of the Divi Booster options work by adding code into the WordPress .htaccess file (which controls how URLs are processed) and/or at the end of the Divi page's HTML. This code gets stored in the two files you mention. If you haven't enabled any of the features which use these files, they will be empty. That's why when you click on them you're just getting a blank page – you're being shown the (empty) files.

Does Divi Booster work with WordPress multisite?

Not yet, but I'm working on it. Yes, the plugin is working with multisite, though I need to do more testing to make sure all the features are working correctly. If you spot any issues, please let me know. See here for the current status of Divi Booster multisite support.

  1. Im running an old version of Divi (not 2.0), although im not sure what version it is. I cant seem to get the slider height to reduce, even when I just have text and a button. Can you suggest anything?

    • Hi Andrew, are you able to share a link to the site so that I can check it out? I took a look at the URL you supplied with your comment, but it seems to be running Divi 2.0. If this is the site you're talking about, then you should be able to change the slider height with Divi Booster (which I note is running but doesn't have the slider height option selected). You can set the slider height under "Modules > Slider" in the Divi Booster. Be sure to tick the box to make sure it is applied. I've tested this code used by the feature on your linked site and it seems to work correctly. Thanks!

  5. Purchased the plugin about an hour ago…..still not download link. There is nothing worse that paying for a digital product online and trusting that a download link with be provided IMMEDIATELY and nothing shows up and NO response from the company. I guess my only recourse now is to dispute the charge with PayPal.

    • Hi Donna, sorry you didn't receive the download link. As I mentioned in my email to you, it seems that my payment system didn't receive the notification from Paypal confirming the payment, so it didn't send out the download link email. I've confirmed the payment, marked it as complete and sent out the purchase receipt with download link. Let me know if you didn't receive it. If you'd still like to go ahead with a refund I'll be happy to process it myself or you can pursue it through paypal and I won't dispute it. Thanks, Dan.

  6. I've just bought this add-on to help speed up site creation using the Divi theme. When I've finished creating a site and I'm handing it over to the client, can I uninstall DiviBooster to prevent them using it or will everything I've done fall over?

    thanks,
    D

    • Hey David, unfortunately not. Divi Booster adds the relevant CSS, JS and PHP code to the theme on the fly to save overwriting the theme and potentially causing damage. This means that if you disable or uninstall Divi Booster all its effects are lost (until you re-enable it, at least). I'd like to add a way to export a particular Divi Booster configuration as a block of code which could be copied and pasted into functions.php, for example, allowing the plugin to be removed, but it will take a fair bit of work on my part to get to that point.

  7. Hi! I just installed Divi booster and set up all the features I wanted to activate. I'm a total newbie at WordPress and am building my site in Divi. The must have feature I need is to be able to put a full width image (which is my logo/brand) above the header on my site. I marked that feature in the booster, but it's still not working. How should I be setting up that particular section/module in the page builder? I've tried a full width section with a full header and setting my image as the background, but it chops off the top and bottom of the image. I've also tried a regular section with an image module and it doesn't go full width. Grrr. Can you please help me and explain it like I'm a kindergartner, since I am when it comes to WP and Divi.

  8. I am adding custom icons using Divi Booster and love the feature but am I limited to only 4? Can I add more? I tried your instructions for editing the functions.php instead but wasn't successful. I could add one icon that way but not more.

    Reply
    • Hey Diane, there isn't a limit on how many icons you can add. However, there is a bit trick to it. You can currently only add one image at a time. When you save the settings, another upload box will appear so you can add another icon. So just save after you upload each icon and you can add as many as you like.

  9. Sorry if his has already been answered, but I couldn't find it. Is this a 1-time charge, or will you require an annual fee for updates? I just want to be sure of the type of commitment involved. Thanks

    • Hey NewGuy, currently it's a 1-time charge with free lifetime updates. I will probably move to an annual fee basis in the future (for new purchases), but this is only likely to happen when I can offer a proper support service for the plugin. Right now I don't offer support as part of the purchase as I can only support it on an ad-hoc basis.

  10. Hi – Just purchased divi booster the other day. Right now I am in the process of transferring my site over to wordpress so I am working using my laptop as the server (MAMP). Is there a way to activate the license while working this way?

    Reply
    • Hey Dawn, yes, as long as you have internet access you should be able to activate the license from the Divi Booster settings page. You'll be able to use the same license on the production server when you go live.

  12. Dan,
I am just about to use Divi Booster for the first time and have been reading all of the great comments. I notice that you keep doing updates to the plugin, how do I ensure that I will have the latest updates on my plugin? Not sure how to update these things, I'm very new to wordpress and Divi.
    Thank you

    • Hey Greg, if you go to the plugins page in your WordPress admin, you'll see Divi Booster listed there. If there are updates available you'll see a message just below the listing telling you an update is available. If so you'll see an "install update" link which you can use to install the update. Also WordPress only checks for updates periodically – if you want to check for the very latest updates you can use the "check for updates" link on the Divi Booster entry. Lots more updates on the way, so keep checking!
