Divi Booster Plugin FAQs

Can I use it on more than one site? What about my clients' sites?

Yes! Divi Booster is licensed for use on unlimited sites. This means you can install it on any or all of your own sites, and on any or all of your client's sites. But please don't share your copy of Divi Booster with others, or make it available online.

Is there an Affiliate Program?

Yes, there is a Divi Booster affiliate program paying out 50% on all Divi Booster sales.

How do I Install Divi Booster?

To install Divi Booster, do the following:

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard go to "Plugins > Add New"
  2. Select "Upload Plugin"
  3. Click "Choose File" and locate the Divi Booster plugin .zip file on your computer
  4. Click "Install Now"
  5. Click "Activate Plugin"

That's it, the Divi Booster plugin should now be installed on your blog.

Now to setup the plugin:

  1. In your WordPress Dashboard go to "Appearance > Divi Booster"
  2. Enter the license key from your purchase confirmation email and click "Activate License" (if it doesn't work the first time, click activate a second time). A green tick will appear once the license is activated.
  3. On the same page, click the section headings to expand and select the configuration options you want to apply to Divi.
  4. Click "Save Changes"

There's nothing else to do. If you visit your site you should see the changes to your Divi Theme.

How do CSS Hero and Divi Booster Compare?

The short answer is that CSS Hero and Divi Booster do different things. They can be used together and doing so will give you the most control over how Divi looks and behaves.

Here's the slightly longer answer. CSS Hero is a general-purpose tool for changing the look of a site via CSS. It makes it easy to do basic CSS tweaks to your site such as changing text color and alignment, font sizes, background colors. It excels at this and if that is all you need to do, it may be just the tool for you.

Divi Booster, on the other hand, has grown out of my work helping people solve their trickiest Divi customization problems. Many of these problems have come from smart people who know some CSS and are often already using CSS Hero. As such the problems I've been solving are typically ones which require a deeper knowledge of and control over Divi than CSS Hero (or anything else) can offer. Most of the fixes use a combination of CSS, JavaScript and PHP to achieve the desired effect. Divi Booster wraps these complex fixes into one easy-to-use plugin, so anyone can apply these fixes to their site regardless of their coding abilities (or lack of).

Divi Booster and CSS Hero work well together. Using both plugins will give you the most complete set of configuration options for Divi, letting you both take control of the basic look of your site and take it to the next level.

Where does Divi Booster put its CSS code? Does it get applied to the parent theme file or child theme? How do I modify the CSS for a Divi Booster feature?

Divi Booster doesn't modify the parent or child theme. Instead it creates and includes a separate CSS file (as well as a JavaScript file). It stores this in its own cache directory. It overwrites it whenever you save new settings, so don't add CSS to this file as it'll just get erased by the next save. The good thing about CSS is that it doesn't really matter where you put it, so you can add CSS in your own child theme (or wherever) and have it modify the Divi Booster CSS. If you'd like to see the CSS that Divi Booster is generating, go to the Divi Booster settings page and look under "Developer Tools > Generated CSS". There you can view the Divi Booster CSS file. You may want to temporarily use the "Disable minification" option to make the file easier to read.

Why do I get a blank screen when I click on wp_footer.txt or htaccess.txt in the Developer Tools section?

Some of the Divi Booster options work by adding code into the WordPress .htaccess file (which controls how URLs are processed) and/or at the end of the Divi page's HTML. This code gets stored in the two files you mention. If you haven't enabled any of the features which use these files, they will be empty. That's why when you click on them you're just getting a blank page – you're being shown the (empty) files.

Does Divi Booster work with WordPress multisite?

Not yet, but I'm working on it. Yes, the plugin is working with multisite, though I need to do more testing to make sure all the features are working correctly. If you spot any issues, please let me know. See here for the current status of Divi Booster multisite support.

Hundreds of new features for Divi
in one easy-to-use plugin

  1. Hi,

Is it possible to add an image and description on the category pages with this plugin ?

    • Hi Audrey, it's not something that the plugin can currently do, but I'll try to add it to a future version of the plugin.

      • Thanks Dan.

I hope I will know when it happens ! ;-)

  2. Hi Dan, I have the plugin installed but can't get any updates. I currently have version 1.0.5 installed running on wp 4.1.4 and when I click on "check for updates" I get a message saying that "a new version of this plugin is available". But how and where do I download a new version?

    • Hi Karin, on the plugins page where you see the "a new version of this plugin is available" message, scroll down to the Divi Booster plugin and you should see a link which says "update now". Click that and follow the prompts to install the update.

      • Sorry, but there's no update now-link. Only the usual ones (view details, check for updates…)

        • Hi Karin, so sorry for the slow reply. You may have already seen my response to your other comment. Is this on the multisite installation you mentioned elsewhere? If so, the plugin doesn't currently support automatic updates on multisite (though I'd like to change that in the future). Otherwise, if it's on a single site, there are one or two other people having issues with updates which I'm investigating. I haven't tracked down the issue yet, but hope to soon.

          • Hi Dan, yes it's on the multisite installation, and I am happy to do a manual update if I get a new download link (the one I have has expired).

          • As per my other comment, I've just resent your purchase confirmation (which contains a new download link). Thanks!

  3. Hi Dan,
i had a problem with the installation in relation to an other used plugin (mobilede Fahrzeugintegration).
If mobilede Plugin was activated and i try to activate divi booster i get the following message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare edd_sanitize_license() (previously declared in /home/www/wp-content/plugins/mobilede_wordpress/license.php:108) in /home/www/wp-content/plugins/divi-booster/divi-booster.php on line 35

More or less the same notification cames if i work in other direction. Means divibooster was activated and i try to activate mobile.de i get
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare edd_sanitize_license() (previously declared in /home/www/wp-content/plugins/divi-booster/divi-booster.php:29) in /home/www/wp-content/plugins/mobilede_wordpress/license.php on line 114

And i need both plugins :-)
The Authors of mobile.de Plugin are also contacted.

    Best regards Thomas

    • Hey Thomas, thanks for letting me know about the error.

I've just released an update to the plugin which should fix it.

      • Hi Dan,

tnx for fast support. Next 2 days i was "on the road", but i will test it at the end of the week and will report it here.

        Best regards

  4. Hi. I purchased this plug-in so that I could use the Page Builder on Posts, but while it shows the comments form in order to add a comment, it doesn't show any previous comments?

    • Hi Craig, I've released an update to the plugin which should fix this. If you update to the latest version the comments should show – let me know if you still can't see them.

  5. When you get the plugin working on multi-site will you be letting us know on email?

    • Hey John, you may have already seen the email I sent you. I believe Divi Booster is working nicely with WordPress Multisite. It still needs a bit more testing to make sure all the features are working correctly, but I think for the most part it should be functioning correctly. I've posted some more details here: https://divibooster.com/using-divi-booster-on-wordpress-multisite/

  6. Hi Dan,
I just downloaded the divi-booster.zip file but fail to upload it. When I click on the "Install" button in the WordPress dashboard, I get a blank page after a few seconds. What would you suggest?

    • Hey Mich, I believe from our emails that you have this working now. For the benefit of anyone having a similar issue, my understanding is that there wasn't enough memory allocated to WordPress and it was fixed by adding the following line to wp-config.php:

      define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '96M');

Perhaps you can correctly me if that wasn't what ultimately fixed it..? Thanks!

      • You just sorted it out! Congrats, Dan!

  7. I'm getting error on Activating plug-in and recurring with all page reloads in ADMIN. I can upload screen print of error but need instructions. Appears to be a conflict with WPML.

    • Hey Kenneth, I've sent you my answer by email already, but just for the benefit of anyone else having the issue, it's a bug in WPML.

This post seems to give a workaround and mentions that they'll be releasing a proper fix in version 3.2:

The error shouldn't affect Divi Booster at all (other than to fill the screen with annoying errors!).

  8. Hi Dan,
Thanks so much for this great plugin! I have been re-designing a client's site using a test site, and I was wondering if I use the plugin on the test site, will the changes I've made be easily imported to the live site, or should I wait until everything is switched over to the actual site before I use the Divi booster to make changes?
    Thanks so much!

    • Hi Chloe, there's a feature in the "Developer Tools" section of the Divi Booster settings to export the settings, which you can then import into the live site.

  9. Licensing rights – I just purchased, is there a limit to using on one site, or can I also use this on the client sites we build? Thanks!

    • Hey Naomi, your license can be used on as many of your own sites and your clients' sites as you like.

  10. Hi Dan

I want to buy the plugin and take advantage of the 20% discount offered via the newsletter – But in the buying process no field for entering the coupon-code appears before the actual push of the Paypal-BUY-botton. Have I missed the coupon-field?

    Sincerely Kenneth

    • Hi Kenneth,

I've now moved to a system of discount links which automatically apply the discount to the checkout (new newsletter subscribers get sent a link instead of a discount code). I've just sent you an email with a discount link, so you should receive it shortly, if you haven't already.

  11. Hello, I jus t bought your plugin, where can I download it?

    • Hey Andre, I just resent your purchase receipt which contains the download link… but then I saw your comment on another post so I'm assuming you managed to get it installed? Let me know if you haven't been able to find the download link. Cheers!

      • Yes Dan! I figured it out in the end! Thanks you :)

  12. None of the changes I'm making on the settings pages are being applied. Don't see any "Save" button on the settings page either. My site is: RXcipes.com

    • Hi Dee, there's a "Save Changes" button right at the very bottom of the settings page. You'll need to click this before any of the settings are applied. Thanks!

        • Ha ha! So it looks like there might be a PHP error which is stopping the rest of the plugin settings from displaying (including the "Developer" section). Are you able to send me the HTML source for the page? (Right click, "view page source", then copy and paste it all into a new comment here). I won't publish the content so no need to remove the license key, etc. That should hopefully let me see where the problem is occurring.

          • Hey Dan,
Did you figure out the PHP error? from the HTML source code?

          • Hey Dee. Did you post the HTML? I haven't received it yet… Yeah, it should be possible to (at least start to) figure out the error from the HTML as I'll be able to see the point at which the HTML output stops, which will tell me the approximate point in the corresponding PHP code where something went wrong.

    • Hi Dee, just following up on this. I'm not sure if you got it working, but I've just released an update to the plugin that fixed a similar issue for another user. If you update to the latest version of the plugin it will hopefully get things working again. If not, please let me know. Cheers!
